It is named after the large lava rock Puu Kekaa that sits in the nearshore waters on the beachLegend has it that the souls of warriors left the earth here by leaping from this rock to meet their ancestors. There are a handful of free parking spots but if these are taken you will have to pay for parking.

Parking is 3 per car and you just put money in an envelope and drop into a slot. In particular there is great snorkeling right from the beach in front of Black Rock.
